Winston Maddox is an Arizona native who grew up in Parker, Arizona. He attended Fishburne Military Academy and upon graduation enrolled at Washington University (St. Louis). Later he moved west and studied at the University of Arizona graduating in 1972 with a degree in Microbiology. He immediately went into real estate.
As a Realtor, Winston specialized in Residential and Commercial Properties. He was an Asset Manager, Project Manager and Developer for various local companies such as The Herder Company (St. Phillips Plaza) and Gadabout Hair Salons. He also attained the distinguished Commercial Real Estate designation, CCIM.
In 1988, Winston left the real estate industry to manage and grow the family business, Gospel Supplies, Inc., which Winston and his wife, Delores, purchased from her parents in 1983. Under his leadership, the store grew to one of the largest in the country. It was during this time that he became involved in the Christian Booksellers Association, where he served as its Treasurer and Chairman of the Board from 1992 to 2000.
In 1999, Catalina Foothills Church hired Winston to serve in a position that would eventually lead to the job as Executive Pastor. Along the way, he attended seminary and graduated from Phoenix Seminary with a Master’s in Divinity in 2006. Winston was ordained a Minister in the Presbyterian Church in America.
Winston and Delores and has three grown children: Shelbie Hurtienne (Brett), Winston Ashley (Tanita) Maddox, and Hayley DePorter (Matt). He has three busy and rowdy grandsons: Taber, Parker and Grady Hurtienne.
Winston is also a past President of the Tucson Chapter of the University of Arizona Alumni Association, and a past President of the Sigma Chi Fraternity Alumni Association Tucson Chapter.
